「生の英語」という言い方が、手垢がつきすぎて悪いイメージになっているのなら、「参考書から
踏みだした英語」という言い方に変えてもいい

私たちは日本語でも辞書や文法を外れた言い方をすることが少なくないし、逆に、日常見なれた
言いまわしが辞書に掲載されていないということ多い

たとえばイプシロンロケット開発者のインタビューでは、「宇宙への敷居を下げる」という言い方を
しているものの、「敷居を下げる」は、ほとんどの国語辞典で誤用として扱われ掲載されていない
「頭のネジがゆるい」といった言い方も、ほとんどの辞書に出ていないはず
でも、これらは生の日本語として日常で使われている

次は、スティーヴン・キング The Stand の長い前書きの文章

When asked, "How do you write?" I invariably answer, "One word at a time," and the answer
is invariably dismissed. But that is all it is. It sounds too simple to be true, but consider

受験英語しかやって来なかった人の場合、キングの文章では突然飛び出す motherfucker、キイスの
文章では、でたらめな綴りの連発に驚く人もいると思う
受験や試験勉強でなければ、ひととおり勉強したら、あとはいちど参考書から飛び出してみた方がいい
というのが自分の意見
もちろん、その後で、自分に不足している部分を参考書で補うのはアリ
